Choosing the Best Revision Book

There is so much more to revision than the occasional reading and re-reading of notes. Even the text books specified by the curriculum just aren’t enough. There are students who like to study ahead and cater for the 75% that is not provided by teachers. This is why we go out of our way to purchase better revision books.

Now there is no particular method for choosing revision books since there’s a myriad of them out there. But how can you tell the difference between a good revision book and one that’s out there just to make money.
My advice:
First of all, speak to the teachers.
Always speak to the teachers. Teachers set the exams, and they are aware of what books to use and what books to be wary of. Most of the times they actually recommend books to students telling them what to use and what not to use and in most cases even, and most importantly how to use these books. Revision books are a learning aid and they act as a secondary learning material.

Lookout for the good publishers.
New books may look flashy and appealing to the eye, but is the content worth it? There are a number of trusted publishers out there. Sometimes if the publisher is new or the author unknown, be cautious. You may have the best interests at heart but even this can be very easily misguided.

Listen to your kids.
At this point, they have been in the system all their lives. They know what works and what doesn’t. This could be from past experience or their predecessors’ experiences. They may be young but this is their world, their specialty so don’t dismiss their suggestions. Remember they’ve been going to school since they were born. They have evolved with the curriculum. Give them a chance to show you what works for them and what doesn’t.

Google.
The internet is everyone’s best friend. Make it yours too. Find out as much information as you can from the internet all at the comfort of your home. This is after all the tech-age. Why not give it a try. You would be surprised at the amount of information you could be exposed to. After carefully sifting through all this, you should be able to make a purchase decision without as much as lifting your feet.

And the best part, you can order for these books online, and have them delivered straight to your young ones desk. How cool is that!
